DUE IN SEPTEMBER
ACORN EQUALITY FUND is a non-profit organization that provides college scholarships to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students and allies in Illinois' downstate counties. Applications are available at acornequalityfund.org. Deadline is September 20, 2019.
DUE IN OCTOBER
The HISPANIC HERITAGE FOUNDATION YOUTH AWARDS educational grants program is now accepting applications. To be eligible you must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, enroll in an accredited higher education institution, and be of Hispanic heritage. Applications can be found at www.HispanicHeritage.org. THE COLLEGE JUMPSTART SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. The first place prize is a $1,000 scholarship to help cover educational expenses. This award can be used at any college or university in the United States. HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION: The Horatio Alger Scholarship program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. The scholarships are given to deserving students each year and range in award value from $6000 to $25000. Eligibility criteria includes: high school graduation in the spring/summer, demonstrated financial need ($55,000 or lower AGI), and United States citizenship. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 31st class in 2019, the Foundation has provided over 6,150 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $69 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is once again offering the Voice of Democracy Patriotic Audio Essay Competition to any student in grades 9-12. See the guidance office for more information. Deadline is October 31, 2019.
DUE IN NOVEMBER
THE HAGAN SCHOLARSHIP: Open to any senior who completed both Junior and Senior year in an eligible state, achieved a GPA of 3.5 or better, and scored at least 23 on the ACT. DUE IN DECEMBER
The AXA Achievementsm Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner’s school. Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives Memorial Scholarship Program offers 12 scholarships each year. Six $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are the sons or daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members. Four $2,000 scholarships are for high school seniors who will be enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college. They may be the sons or daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members, employees or directors. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who is the son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative employee or director. Click here for more information or to apply. TEACH Outdoors, Inc. NFP is awarding an educational scholarship for the 2020-2021 school year in the amount of $500.00. The scholarship will be awarded directly to a student who is furthering his or her education by attending college, a university or trade school. Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs is spreading the news to schools about the $12,000 that the organization is giving away in scholarships this year. The scholarships include art, drama, music, education, and vocational studies. They are open to both male and female students. Douglas County Pheasants Forever 2020 Tom Innes Memorial Scholarship application is now available in the guidance office. To qualify the applicant must be the child, niece, nephew, or grandchild of a Douglas County Pheasants Forever member, or a member themselves. Deadline is February 29, 2020.
2020 Illinois Chemical Education Foundation presents a number of $2000 scholarships to top high school seniors that will be continuing education in chemistry. See the guidance office for application information. Deadline is February 21, 2020.
Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program is again offering $1000 scholarship to students that live in the area covered by Mediacom services. All scholarship applications must include an essay on leadership, the applicant’s school transcript and two recommendation forms. Illinois Masonic Scholarship Applications are available for download at www.aasrdanville.org. One application covers six available scholarships. Each scholarship has unique qualifications and will require a transcript and letters of recommendation. Deadline is March 1, 2020.

Illinois Federation of Business Women’s Clubs (IFBW)announce that they are awarding six $2,000 scholarships to deserving young women in Illinois. Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation is pleased to announce the Lloyd & Selma Sweeny Scholarship opportunities. There are currently two scholarships (one for Healthcare or Healthcare-Related fields and one for Agriculture). These are open to any student in Coles or Douglas county. Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Champaign Chapter is offering scholarships to high school seniors that meet the following requirements: US Citizen, 3.0 GPA, minimum SAT scores of 600 Math and 500 Verbal or ACT score of 29 Math and 25 English. YOUNG AMERICAN CREATIVE PATRIOTIC ART CONTEST is a scholarship contest that recognized up-an-coming artists and encourages patriotism in youth. This contest is open to students in grades 9-12. Cosmetologist Illinois East Central is awarding one $1,000 Cosmetology Scholarship to a student enrolled in a Cosmetology school program in the state of Illinois. See the guidance office for information. Deadline is April 3, 2020.
The Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists, a local chapter affiliated with the National Society of Decorative Painters, has established a First Place $1000 scholarship for a graduating senior who will attend an accredited art program following high school graduation. This money will be provided directly to the college they will be attending for tuition and fees in two installments, one installment each semester of their freshman year. Heritage Family Farms scholarship was established in 2014 by the Green Family, partners in Heritage Family Farms, a fifth-generation corn and soybean farm located in Douglas County, Illinois. The purpose of the scholarship is to aid a worthy individual in furthering his/her education in an agricultural field. The of the scholarship is $500 and will be paid directly to the college or university on behalf of the recipient. Any high school senior attending Arcola, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Tuscola or Villa Grove High Schools that is pursuing an agricultural field of study at a community college or university is encouraged to apply for this scholarship. FarmHouse offers multiple $500-$5,000 scholarships every year to incoming male students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Eligibility for the scholarship isn’t dependent on the student’s choice of major or on any commitment to membership in the fraternity. Last year we gave out $16,000 in funds and this year we are hoping to exceed that amount. Applications can be found at http://uifarmhouse.com/scholarships and deadline is April 15th.
Donald J. Lindley and Belle H. Lindley Scholarship is available to students with demonstrated financial need. Application forms can be picked up in the guidance office. Deadline is April 15, 2020.
Douglas County Republican Women are again offering two (2) scholarships to high school seniors in Douglas County. Applicants must complete the application form and submit two (2) letters of reference. Application forms are in the guidance office. Deadline is April 19, 2020.
LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship will help pay for costs to attend the lineworker’s school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, Illinois. Sons and daughters of co-op members; relatives of co-op employees or directors; and individuals who have served or are serving in the armed forces or National Guard and individuals enrolled in the Lincoln Land Lineworker’s school are all eligible for the lineworker’s scholarship. The Paul Brumaghim Memorial Scholarship is named for longtime Shelter Agent Paul Brumaghim from Danville. Paul was a tireless supporter of the Insurance Industry and was a mentor to many of us.

2020 Driving Safety Scholarship being offered by Truitt Law Offices. There will be three scholarships awarded, with a top award of $1,000 to be given to the student who creates the best essay or video response to the following prompt: "Over the last five years, the number of traffic fatalities in Indiana has steadily risen, according to Indiana University Public Policy Institute statistics. These numbers reflect a national trend. What things can we do better at a local level to prevent these deadly crashes and make our roads safer?"
